Royal Queensland Golf Club is the premier Golf Club in Queensland and one of the finest in the Country boasting the number one golf course in the State.
The original course was designed by Carnegie Clark, the Australian Open Champion of the day, and was opened by the Governor-General Forster in 1921.
Due to the state Governments decision in 2005 to build a second Gateway Bridge over the famous course, the Club lost seven holes and construction of the new course was undertaken.
The new Championship Course was designed by Michael Clayton and completed in December 2007 it is currently rated the 30th best course in Australia.
“Royal Queensland is not a course where players will grow bored. The best lines to take from the tees and the best shots to play vary from day to day depending on the wind, the position of the flag, the state of one’s game and the state of a match. That is the essence of making the game interesting on more than just a superficial level and Royal Queensland is a course that captures that spirit.” Michael Clayton

The only island in the Whitsundays with its own commercial airport, there are direct flights to Hamilton Island from Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Cairns and good connections from other major Australian cities.
On Hamilton Island you’ll experience everything that is good about Australia – beautiful natural surrounds, calm waters, secluded beaches, warm weather, fascinating coral reefs and diverse flora and fauna.
As an island holiday destination it offers a variety of accommodation, plenty of dining choices and lots of things to do. There’s also a local population – about 800 people live here permanently
Accommodation: 2 nights’ accommodation on Hamilton Island at your choice including breakfast daily
Day 5: Hamilton Island (B)
18 holes at Hamilton Island Golf Club
Hamilton Island Golf Course is located on Dent Island - the island that sits adjacent to Hamilton Island itself. Dent Island is accessed via a quick five minute ferry transfer from the Hamilton Island Marina. Your green fees include all ferry transfers. Note that private boats cannot dock at the Hamilton Island Golf Club.
Ranked: # 37 in Australia’s Top 100/2014
Designed by champion golfer, Peter Thomson, the par 71 championship Hamilton Island Golf Club on neighbouring Dent Island measures 6,120 metres (6692 yards). The only championship island golf course in Australia, the course has been designed to challenge all levels of golf enthusiasts, from resort guests to professional golfers.
Given the changes in course elevation; restricted landing areas and the ever-present breezes will provide a definite challenge from the back tees and enjoyable resort golf from the forward marks.
The course is designed as a series of holes strung along the ridges and played across steep valleys and the course layout works with the landform, with generally broad fairways taking the “line of least resistance”, avoiding the steeper, more sensitive areas.
The par 71, 18 hole course features two distinctly different nine hole circuits returning to a central clubhouse with panoramic views of Dent Passage and Hamilton Island. The outward nine holes are a more compact layout around the centre of the island and the inward nine are strung out along the ridges to the south.
The island's natural and rugged beauty, together with its mountainous terrain affords stunning 360 degree views across secluded coves and beaches to adjacent passages and islands, and the mainland beyond.
For those wanting to extend their stay, there are many optional tours available from Hamilton such as Barrier Reef Cruises including diving; snorkelling and glass bottom boat viewing; visit to magnificent Whitehaven Beach; Sailing; Scenic reef flights; Whale Watching cruises (June to Sept); resort watersports; tennis and more.

Ceduna Golf Club
Hole 1: Oyster Beds, Par 5 – 485m
Hole 2: Denial Bay, Par 4 – 370m
introduction to itinerary and history of area we will be travelling.
Ceduna is located on the shores of Murat Bay. The protected waters, sheltered bays and numerous sand coves ensure a plentiful supply of fresh seafood, including local oysters which, because of the bay’s crystal clear water are some of the finest available anywhere in the country. Coffin Bay Oysters (south of here) are particularly well known but oysters from Ceduna and Streaky Bay are just as good. Upon arrival at Ceduna Golf Club we tackle the first two holes of the Nullarbor Links Course – Hole One is the 485 metre Par 5 “Oyster Beds” and the second hole is the 370 metre Par 4 “Denial Bay”.
Penong Golf Course
Hole 3: Windmills, Par 4 – 260m
We move on to Penong – about 100kms to the west of Ceduna – to play the Third Hole. A lot of the local water for the township of Penong comes from windmills that pump from small underground basins near the town – hence the name of the Third Hole “Windmills” – a 260metre Par 4.
Nundroo Hotel Motel
Hole 4: Wombat Hole, Par 5 - 520m
Then we head to the coast and the delightful village of Fowlers Bay, where we play the 4th at Nundroo –the Par 5,520 metre “Wombat Hole”.
Nullarbor Hotel Motel
Hole 5: Dingo’s Den, Par 5 – 538m
Next we play the 5th Hole - the Par 5, 538 Metre “Dingo’s Den” at Nullarbor

At Border Village we encounter the 6th - the Par 3, 160 Metre “Border Kangaroo”.
Eucla Golf Club
Hole 7: Nullarbor Nymph, Par 4 – 315m
We travel from Eucla near the SA/WA Border to Cocklebiddy – and we play 3 holes of very remote golf! The first is Hole 7 – the Par 4, 315 metre “Nullarbor Nymph” at Eucla. The hole is named after a famous publicity stunt that attracted attention all over the world when it was rumoured a naked woman, with long blonde hair, had been seen running with the kangaroos on the Nullarbor near Eucla! Journalists from all over Australia (and some from overseas) descended on the town! Eucla was originally established as a Telegrapgh Station – the ruins of which are being slowly covered with drifting sand.

Caiguna Motel
Hole 11: Mile Straight, Par 4 - 310m
Next is the 80km ride to Caiguna, which is the starting point for a 146.6 km stretch of road that is the longest straight piece of road in Australia. Hole 11 is the Par 4, 310 metre “90 Mile Straight”.
Balladonia Motel
Hole 12: Skylab, Par 3 – 175m
At the other end of the “straight” is Balladonia which hosts Hole 12 – the 175 metre Par 3 “Skylab” – named after the doomed space station Skylab which crashed to earth near here in 1979.
Fraser Range
Hole 13: Sheep’s Back, Par 3 – 141m
Hole 13, the 141 metre Par 3 “Sheeps Back” at Fraser Range. This area is home to the world's largest Eucalyptus Hardwood Forest. The blackbutt, salmon gum and gimlet trees are a spectacular sight, often 20 to 30 metres tall. They attract an amazing collection of wildlife to the region.
Norseman Golf Club
Hole 14: Golden Horse, Par 4 – 436m
Hole 15: Ngadju, Par 4 – 354m
We then push on to Norseman to play Holes 14 & 15 – the 436 metre Par 4 “Golden Horse” and the 354 metre Par 4 “Ngadju”. Kalgoorlie Golf Club
Hole 17: Golden Mile, Par 4 - 339m
Hole 18: CY O’Connor, Par 4 – 365m
We arrive in Kalgoorlie to complete our journey across the Nullarbor. We have the final 2 holes to play this afternoon – the 339 metre Par 4 “Golden Mile” and the 365 metre Par 4 “Cy O’Connor” – both at the Kalgoorlie Golf Club. Cy O’Connor was the engineer on the project that built a fresh water pipeline to Kalgoorlie from the hills on the outskirts of Perth (560kms) and of course the Golden Mile refers to the fabulous wealth that has - and continues to be - extracted from the Kalgoorlie Mines.
